My name is Dan Dishart and I have been taking pictures pretty much my whole life. My dad was a photographer and taught me and my brothers from a very early age. I learned all the darkroom stuff (which I don’t use any more) but the really important thing I learned or inherited from my dad was “The Photographer’s Eye”. I hope you can see some of that through these pictures.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, attended Penn Hills High School and then graduated from West Virginia University in 1976. I joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served for 12 years flying the A-6 Intruder and then served with the U.S. Naval Reserve where I continued to fly the A-6 until my eventual retirement. While serving as a Naval Reserve officer, I was working for U.S. Airways as a commercial pilot and retired from there after 18 years of service.
I have been married to my wife, Carol for 32 years and we have one son, Addison who is an officer in the United States Marine Corps and a Naval Academy grad.
I have tried other ‘civilian’ jobs but I guess I’m not the corporate type so I thought I would try to develop my love of photography into a business. I hope you enjoy my pictures.
